I don’t know about you, but one of the hardest parts of the week is deciding what’s for dinner. Even though I cook for a living and try new recipes all the time, planning a weekly menu can still be a challenge.
My goal with Taste and Tell is to make dinnertime easier for you. I have hundreds of dinner ideas, but sometimes having a curated list of favorites is the best way to simplify meal planning.
Below are 22 of my go-to family dinners. This list isn’t exhaustive, but it’s packed with reliable, simple recipes your household can enjoy. Bookmark this post for the next time you’re wondering what to make or use it to plan your weekly menu. Dinner doesn’t have to be complicated!
Tips for Getting Dinner on the Table
Make a Menu
Start the week with a simple menu and grocery run. When you skip planning and scramble at 5pm, dinner often becomes an easy fallback like peanut butter and jelly. Even a loose plan ensures you have the essentials on hand and makes weeknight meals much more manageable.
Make It Ahead
On busy days, pick recipes that can be prepared earlier and reheated. I often prep components during the day so the evening rush is stress-free. Keeping cooked, shredded chicken in the fridge or freezer is one of my top tricks—it’s versatile and reheats well.
Stock Up on Sales
Keep proteins like ground beef, chicken, and pork in the freezer, especially when they’re on sale. Doing the same for pantry staples—pasta, beans, sauces—helps you pull meals together quickly without an extra grocery trip.
Give Yourself Grace
Perfection isn’t required. We don’t always have a full, elaborate dinner every night, and it’s rare that everyone raves about a meal. If your family at least tries it, that’s a win. Leftovers, sandwiches, or a simple plate now and then are totally fine.
