Today marks the start of Graeter’s Ice Cream Annual Cones for the Cure campaign. You can support pediatric brain cancer research while enjoying Graeter’s delicious ice cream.

If you haven’t tried Graeter’s Ice Cream, you’re missing out. I toured their Cincinnati facility recently and left with a deeper appreciation for this hometown favorite.

Graeter’s produces ultra-premium ice cream in 2-gallon “French Pots.” This vertical mixing method minimizes air, resulting in an exceptionally rich, dense texture that sets Graeter’s apart.

What amazed me was learning they produce over a million pints a year using this process—mixing and packing much of it by hand. They truly work like artisans to maintain quality.
Graeter’s is especially known for its large, flavorful chocolate “chips.” Before trying Graeter’s, I wasn’t a fan of chocolate chip ice cream—most chips seem dry or chalky. Graeter’s chips are large, rich, and stay pleasantly melty in the ice cream, delivering a satisfying chocolate hit with every bite.

During my tour they were making Cookies and Cream, and we sampled it straight from the French Pots—deliciously fresh.

The reason for my visit goes beyond great ice cream. The Cure Starts Now and Graeter’s are partnering again this September for the annual Cones for the Cure campaign. Running September 10–20 at participating Graeter’s locations in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Chicago, the campaign raises awareness and funds for The Cure Starts Now, which focuses on finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer.

As part of its support, Graeter’s will give away FREE scoops of Elena’s Blueberry Pie ice cream to customers twice during the campaign. Elena’s Blueberry Pie honors 6-year-old Elena Desserich, the inspiration behind The Cure Starts Now.

During Cones for the Cure, guests can donate $1 or $5 for a “Cone for the Cure.” Customers who donate $5 or more will receive a $20 savings booklet from Graeter’s. These donations directly support research and programs run by The Cure Starts Now.
Follow the Cones for the Cure Facebook page to learn when the TWO FREE CONE DAYS will take place during the campaign and to stay updated on events and announcements.

In 2014, more than 40,000 people participated in the campaign, generating $75,000 for The Cure Starts Now. To date, the Cones for the Cure initiative has raised over $200,000 to help fund research toward cures for pediatric cancers.

Thank you to Graeter’s for the tour, the complimentary ice cream, and the swag bag provided in connection with this post.
