Some of my kids go back to school this week! In some ways the summer has flown by, while in others we’re all ready to return to a bit more routine. I made a simple back-to-school treat with a printable that works great tucked in a lunchbox, as a small teacher gift, or waiting for kids when they come home.

All you need are a few supplies: CD sleeves (I have a stack from when I used to use CDs — if you don’t, inexpensive sleeves are available in packs), the back-to-school snack mix (recipe ideas below), and the printable ruler label. Use tape, a glue stick, or a sticker to secure the label.

To assemble: make the snack mix, fill a CD sleeve, seal it, then wrap the ruler printable around the sleeve and secure it at the back. It’s quick, easy, and looks cute.

This is such an easy project but adds a fun, personalized touch. Below is a suggested snack mix you can adapt based on what you find at the store or already have at home.

Back-to-school mix ideas:
– Cheez-It Scrabble letter crackers (or any letter-shaped crackers)
– Pretzel sticks
– Kix cereal
– Alpha-Bits cereal (if available)
– Colorful candies like M&M’s for a pop of color
Simply combine your chosen ingredients in a bowl and mix until evenly distributed. Feel free to swap in alternatives to suit tastes or dietary needs.

Download the ruler printable for personal use only.
