How to Host a Live Facebook Event for Spiced Nuts

Last week I finally overcame my fear of baking on camera and recorded my first Facebook Live session. I chose to make Spice Nuts (Kruidnootjes) because the recipe is simple and perfect for a first live demonstration.

Preparing for Facebook Live

Even though it might not look like it, I did prepare before hitting the “Go Live” button. To feel more confident, I asked my mom to help film the session while I walked through the recipe. We did a practice run so she could get comfortable with the camera and I could rehearse the steps. Despite rehearsing, the real broadcast was still nerve-wracking. I rushed through parts of the recipe and made a small slip-up while explaining the size of the dough balls: I said they should be the size of a walnut when I meant a hazelnut. Small detail, but it made me laugh afterward.

Overall the experience was positive. The feedback I’ve received has been encouraging, and I’m excited to do more Facebook Live cooking sessions and improve with each one. The best part: my nephews approved and happily devoured the cookies.
